Saturday July 4th ´09:”Anabaptists in the Wine district” Lecture & tours in Niedersulz

Hutterites are a communal branch of Anabaptists who, like the Amish and Mennonites, trace their roots to the Radical Reformation of the 16th century. Since the death of their founder Jakob Hutter in 1536, the beliefs of the Hutterites, especially living in a community of goods and absolute pacifism, has resulted in hundreds of years of odyssey throughmany countries. Originating in the Austrian province of Tyrol in the 16th century, the forerunners of the Hutterites migrated to the Wine District (lower Austria) and Moravia (now Czech Republic) to escape persecution. In the Museum village of Niedersulz one of the houses contains a Hutterite Museum. On Saturday, July 4th 2009 guided tours and lecture will be focussing on the Hutterites and their History here in the region .
